Dreamy Macaws

Description

Photo taken from the border of a sinkhole, in the Bodoquena Mountains,  Brazil, called “Buraco das Araras”, that translated to English would be “Macaws’ Hole”. The depression circumference is roughly 500 meters and it is about 100 meters deep. It used to be an illegal trash dump. In 1986, the area was bought by a farmer, Mr. Modesto Sampaio. After years of dedication, he was able to recover the area to its natural condition, attracting wildlife, that had left decades before. Among them, are numerous Red-and-green Macaws (Ara chloropterus) that nest in the walls of the sinkhole. During the day, they fly in and out of the sinkhole to look for food in the trees of the surrounding area. I decided to photograph in a slow shutter speed, blurring the image and still being able to recognize the birds.
