The Ghost of Phalaborwa

All the stars had to align and the bush gods shone favorably on us for this once in a lifetime sighting on the S131 2km from Phalaborwa Gate.

We had just arrived in the park and it was getting late, we had not seen much and were just enjoying the new experience of a Mopani covered terrain.

An empty sand road besides some impala up ahead. The baby impalas were putting on a show jumping up and down so we sat and watched. When they moved into the thicket we drove closer. My girlfriend Sharna Berelowitz shouted Leopard which I barely had time to register before it happend infront of our eyes.

The small female leopard appeared out of nowhere. It was an ambush attack.

It was a silent assault. It was quick It was nature and it was breathtaking

Before moving deeper into the thicket the leopard turned around and stared at us for 20 seconds, presumably feeling the pulse of the unfortunate impala fade away.

This was Kruger Magic and what I had dreamed of as a nature enthusiast and a photographer.
